The long-tailed weasel is reddishbrown with buff underparts and throat, with a black tip to its long tail. The short-tailed weasel (also known as the ermine) has a shorter tail and is colored similarly except for its white feet. In winter, the short-tailed weasel becomes white except for the tail tip.
