To mark the seventieth birthday of Neil D. Opdyke, a Chapman convention entitled "Timescales ofthe inner Geomagnetic box" was once held on the college of Florida in Gainesville on March 11th of September, 2003. This AGU Chapman convention was once backed via the U.S. nationwide technology starting place, college of Florida, Florida Museum of normal heritage, and 2G organisations. 41 talks and twenty-three posters have been provided in the course of the three-day assembly. This monograph includes twenty-four of these papers, and is a balanced subset ofthe papers offered on the convention. The monograph is split into 3 components. half 1 bargains with the geocentric axial dipole (GAD) speculation, continental reconstruction, and long term geomagnetic box habit. half 2 contains papers on magnetic polarity stratigraphy and the purchase of sedimentary magnetization. half three offers with secular edition, paleointensity, and non permanent geomagnetic box habit. those are all issues which have been considerably impacted through Neil's medical work.Content:
